PURGE YOUR URGE

When your bladder calls the shots, your social calendar starts to look barren. Never mind sitting through a movie, your fear of peeing in your pants keeps you plenty occupied.

Urgency doesn’t have to rule your life and neither does your bladder.

In today’s In Your Pants episode, Dr. Sara Smith and I talk about the “push that old sweet lady out of the way NOW syndrome” and how urgency bleeds into everything we do, not just our bladders.

Wouldn’t it be nice to go for a long car ride without having to stop and pee every 30 minutes?

The best way to overcome urinary urgency is to pause. Yup, stop, drop, and breathe. Sounds counterintuitive right? Urgency is an opportunity for us to pay attention to our bodies and our lives. Habitual patterns dictate how we choose to live our lives but just like all habits they can be broken.

Dr. Sara’s 6 steps to gaining core confidence, to be empowered and energized for success (side effects? no more leaks, yes!)

  1. Be present - awareness is the first step for change

  2. Stop - Take a moment to pause and appreciate the messages of urgency

  3. Find the path of least resistance - start small and build up

  4. Breathe - “If you’re breathing, you’re doing more right than wrong.” - Jon Kabat-Zinn

  5. Reflect - ask yourself, “where is this urgency coming from?”

  6. Watch inner transformation unfold

Sitting through a movie without peeing your pants is possible. Just hit play to purge that urge.
