4 EXERCISES FOR ANORECTAL PAIN

Almost everyone I know is feeling stressed about something recently, and when we’re tight and anxious, it’s common to form patterns of tension in our pelvic floor.

If you’re experiencing a (literal) pain in the butt, you’re not alone. I share four tips to find relief from this pain in the ass, define what anorectal pain feels like, and cover biologically plausible reasons for why you could be experiencing this.

Tightness in the anal sphincter and levator ani muscle can be troublesome and difficult to relax. Here are four tips to help you find relief:

  • Reduce the impacts of constipation by helping the pelvic muscles around the rectum relax

  • Move your body with cardio exercise! All tissues crave blood flow, movement, and space. 20 - 30 minutes brings oxygenated blood flow to these tissues

  • Explore focused breath work to relax any tension that may be present

  • Desensitize sensitive tissues with self-discovery internal manual therapy
