THE CAUSES OF RETROGRADE EJACULATION AND TIPS TO HELP

In this video, pelvic health specialist Lainie Givens explains the causes of retrograde ejaculation and provides helpful tips to manage it. It’s important to both know and understand the causes of retrograde ejaculation in order to manage this condition.

Though it’s not a serious medical issue and won’t cause physical harm to the bladder or penis, knowing the causes of retrograde ejaculation can be insightful and helpful.

How do you know if you have retrograde ejaculation?

  • little ejaculation during climax

  • dry orgasms (no semen)

  • cloudy urine

  • male infertility

If you’re experiencing retrograde ejaculation, here are some tips you can try:

  • Medications like Alpha-adrenergic medications can help keep the bladder sphincter closed during ejaculation.

  • Training your pelvic floor muscles. Pelvic floor muscle coordination strengthens muscles and nerves helping to reduce retrograde ejaculation.

  • Consulting with a fertility specialist if there are fertility concerns.

  • Talking with your doctor about medications you are taking that may cause retrograde ejaculation.
