PAVING YOUR RECOVERY WITH PAIN SCIENCE

Today we’ll be debunking pain through a patient’s perspective using a pain science lens. So if you’re in pain, know someone in pain, or a healthcare provider who cares for people in pain, listen up 👂because this episode’s for you.

Joletta Belton is the co-founder of the Endless Possibilities Initiative, a nonprofit with a mission of empowering people with pain to live well through experiential learning workshops and retreats, and a pain blogger at MyCuppaJo.com where she reflects on her lived experience of pain through a pain science lens. Both projects were born of her own experiences living with ongoing pain, her academic background in psychology, neuroscience, and human movement, and her work in paramedicine, wellness, and fitness, and coaching youth and adults with disabilities or disadvantages. She shares what she has learned of the science through her own story to provide hope and empowerment to people living with pain and insights into the lived experience of pain and recovery to practitioners. In early 2018 Joletta has been on a patient perspective panel at the San Diego Pain Summit, a breakout session leader and co-presenter with pain physician Dr. Chris Caldwell at the Montana Pain Conference, and a speaker at the Paincloud Convention in Oslo, Norway.
