PELVIC FLOOR YOGA FOR URINARY INCONTINENCE
Welcome back to our special three-part Pelvic Floor Yoga series, featuring Yoga Teacher Jake Panasevich and Pelvic Health Specialist Dr. Susie Gronski, PT, DPT. In today's episode, we dive into the challenges of urinary incontinence, a condition affecting 1 in every 20 men.
There are three types of urinary incontinence: Urge, Stress, and Overflow, including symptoms like post void urinary dribbling. Dr. Susie discusses the various causes, ranging from pelvic floor muscle weakness to neurovascular changes, pelvic surgeries, urinary tract infections, constipation, and medications affecting bladder function.
Jake Panasevich will guide you in specific yoga exercises for managing urge and stress incontinence, including relaxation, breath-focused body awareness techniques, and pelvic floor coordination exercises for urge, while stress incontinence focuses on lumbopelvic mobility and gradually building load and pressure demands to regain bladder control and function.
